Albert Jakstadt Basses |
We are the exclusive distributors of the Albert Jakstadt Basses. Mr. Jakstadt brings over fifty years of woodworking experience to every bass he makes. Mr. Jakstadt was originally trained as a furniture maker in Bavaria. He turned to instrument repair in the late 1960's with David Horine. In 1991 he turned his energies to the construction of new instruments. His basses have been in high demand ever since and can be found in numerous orchestras in the U.S. and Australia. Mr. Jakstadt's basses currently have two body types- gamba shaped and violin cornered, both are 7/8 size. Most are of flat-back construction, round backs are special order. They are totally original in design to fit the modern day demands of a bass player. Call for current price and availability
